Collection: James Talmadge Artist Biography and Art Gallery Collection

James Talmadge, with highly saturated colors and expressionistic impressions, creates works of art that are full of visual interest as well as contemplative intrigue. Los Angeles born, Malibu-dwelling, Canadian resident, raconteur, world traveler and celebrated artist to the stars, James Talmadge has led an incredibly colorful and adventurous life which, of course, directly informs his vibrant and highly collectible artwork. While in his 20's, companies such as Sony, Atlantic Records, Doubleday Publishing, Max Factor, JBL International, ABC, CBS and KCET employed the artist's talents in various creative endeavors. His diversity and interests led him to explore many disciplines, from producing animated films for Sesame Street, Cheech and Chong and Sonny Bono to creating graphics for The Bill Cosby Show. During this period, Talmadge continued to hone his skills, painting every spare minute. The art finally demanded his full-time attention, and in his mid-30's, began concentrating exclusively on his art. James Talmadge has had over 100 exhibitions since 1961 throughout the United States and the Far East. His works are in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo; The Museum of Modern Art, Osaka; and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Jamaica. James Talmadge, a big fan of all things Japanese, as well as something of a small-town hero over there,  is also one of the few American visual artists to be invited to Cuba and shake hands with Fidel Castro. He also donates his time and artwork to such prestigious organizations as the Make-a-Wish Foundation, The John Wayne Cancer Center, Meals on Wheels, and Free Arts for Abused Children, just to name a few. James Talmadge's style follows somewhat along the lines of the neo-impressionist school of thought, but of course, his style is all his own. Lush, quirky, exquisitely detailed and brash, Talmadge's work corners the market on art you simply just have to have. Talmadge's paintings, described as frenzied and vibrant, have found a place among the art collections of celebrities such as Brook Shields and Charlie Sheen. In 2002 Talmadge and his wife moved to Ontario, Canada, where the breathtaking winter terrain inspires him to create even more amazing artwork on a daily basis.
