Collection: Misu Coman Artist Biography and Art Gallery Collection

Misu Coman is a Romanian Glass Sculptor who was Born 1961 in Buzau, Romania and studied at the Bucharest Academy of Fine Art. In 1990, he opened a studio of his own in the area where he was born and raised. Crossing over the "Fire Arts" adventure, Misu Coman aims to recuperate the original condition of the substance that in time falls into the anonymity of sand. "We have very fine sand in this area, which is excellent for glass-making". His work is primarily abstract shapes in bright colors. Most, but not all, pieces have some type of applied decorations in contrasting colors. His glass sculptures are so beautiful and detailed that some of Misu Coman's artwork has been offered, either through ignorance or deliberate misrepresentation, as Pre-1939 Czech and 1950's Murano.

One of the fundamental means Misu Coman accomplishes the decorative effects is with color. With refinement and craft, He controls those values and qualities, such as luminosity, brightness and the interplay of matted and transparent surfaces. Quite often, he resorts to dark tones extended on large surfaces on which abstract motifs are usually displayed in contrasting relationships. So, on matte backgrounds, the contrasting areas gain a gem-like preciousness. Each unique creation is designed, blown by mouth and signed by "Misu Coman", himself. “Working with glass has become my way of expressing my feelings, what started as my challenge, today is my art!" His glass sculptures have become highly collectible around the world, especially Japan, but also in countries like France, England, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Lebanon, Kuwait Israel and the United States.
