Wendy Corbett Artist Biography and Art Gallery Collection
Wendy Corbett is a British Artist artwork is filled with skillful use of light, shadow, and reflection, that will bring the majestic beauty of nature into your home. Born in Birmingham, England, she has been interested in art since she was a young girl. Today, her artistic interests are still influenced by the things she loved as a child – seaside scenes and animals. Corbett explains that Birmingham is "about as far from the sea as you can get," but when she was young her family went on vacations to the shores of England where she made her first memories of long days on the beach. Eventually, Wendy Corbett moved to the coast, where she feels most at home, spending thirteen years in Devon and currently living in Lancashire. Wendy signed with a major fine art publisher and with them did a touring exhibition, Festival of Light, in 2005/6. In 2007 she received a Highly Commended in the Wildscape Wildlife Artist competition and in 2008 was shortlisted for the DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year. Wendy has exhibited at the Mall Galleries, London, Halcyon Gallery, Birmingham and various other galleries in the UK. Now based in Lancashire, still close to the coast. Wendy Corbett gets inspiration from the coastline surrounding the British Isles, and tries to visit a different part each year.
Wendy Corbett states that her paintings are also inspired by her other passion, traveling. She has been on safari in Botswana numerous times, in addition to her inspiring travels to Sri Lanka and Borneo. She also revels in the beauty that she has found closer to home in Scotland and the British Isles. Wherever she travels or lives, Corbett finds inspiration and beauty that shines through in the artwork she creates. Submitted to and had work selected for P.A.W.S., a national wildlife art competition, and was delighted to win the monochrome section award. I have also had my work exhibited at the Society of Wildlife Artists exhibition at the Mall Galleries.
