Stephen Schubert is an American Artist and Actor currently living in Los Angeles California best known for his intriguing and intricate custom multidimensional wall sculptures and recently his abstract paintings. Stephen Schubert has toured extensively throughout the United States. Having earned a huge following of collectors and admirers around the world. He has been honored by the California State Senate with the inclusion of his work in the first California Contemporary Art Collection. His unique public creations can also be seen in Los Angeles' Community of Angels Project, and Stephen Schubert was tapped to create the portal sculpture into North Hollywood's famous Art District.
Stephen Schubert has re-invented himself painting some his most intriguing images and ideas on canvas, with the always fascinating theme of what lies just beyond an open window portrayed in many of his masterpieces. Multi-layered and full of lush colors, Schubert's work is wonderfully distinct. Stephen Schubert is an award-winning artist best known for developing his own distinct style of multidimensional art. The fact his art can be seen in locations as diverse as the clubhouse at PGA-West, La Quinta, California to Montana ranches and London showrooms is testament to his work’s wide appeal with all types of collectors. Inspired by his many travels throughout the world, and a deep appreciation for nature, his three-dimensional works have been aptly reviewed as “whimsical, with a touch of nostalgia.” His pieces typically depict a room featuring a landscape revealed through a window.
Stephen Schubert's abstracts are created on elevated birch panels with a technique that includes placing up to 15 layers of paint. His approach includes dragging a spackle knife, board or other found object over the wood surface, then applying a top coat of resin. Then he repeats the same process over again. The end result is a vibrant, colorful painting.The layering effect of the finely cut birch elements, combined with his use of a striking color pallet never ceases to make an impression on the viewer. This attention to detail has earned him enthusiastic praise from both private and commercial collectors around the world.
Stephen Schubert's pieces are also represented by many fine galleries, including those in Carmel and Laguna, California, Chicago, New Orleans and Dania, Florida. Mr. Schubert’s work has been featured in numerous publications, film and television. His piece "Big Koi" was featured in Paul Rudd's condo quite prominently and quite often in the movie Dinner for Shmucks. When not gaining inspiration by exploring new cultures and countries, he can be found working in his Los Angeles studio. Ironically he began his career acting and was the spokesman for Lincoln Mercury, Macy's and guest anchored on the E! channel. He was also appeared television and was seen on the classic Seinfeld episode "The Pick" in 1992 and the film 9 Full Moons in 2003.
