Vadik Suljakov Artist Biography and Art Gallery Collection
Vadik Suljakov (pronounced Shul-ya-kov) was born into a family of artists and writers in 1960. Born and raised in Moscow, the cultural epicenter of Russia, he was always surround by art and music. His parents gave him an excellent home education, which included painting by the age of seven. He continued with Russia's most rigid and traditional art education and from the age of twelve to twenty, he perfected his style. Vadik Suljakov studied at the Moscow First Art School and served apprenticeships at the Moscow Graphic Art Committee and the Moscow Art Group. For Suljakov, one of the most frustrating situations in Russia were the severe paint shortages. Paints were very rare and expensive and he had to become a master manipulator just to get canvas and brushes.
When Vadik Suljakov came to America he was stunned, like most Russians, to see all the colors readily available. Now he could finally transfer his memories of Europe to canvas. Trips to cities such as Venice and Vienna as well as Paris while a young artist could now be given their full justice. From the cafe’s and canals to the narrow alleyways and stairs, Suljakov paints the beloved cities of the world in their timeless beauty. “If those who view my art are happy, then I am happy,” Vadik says with a broad grin on his face.In 1990, Suljakov left Russia for the United States like many other artists had done, because they were asked to tie their art to politics. He then spent a year in New York City with a group of other artists from his native Russia, working as a commercial artist. When asked how he feels about the United States, Vadik Suljakov emphatically states, "I came to America when the time was right, when I had enough experience to express my art and thought on canvas."
Years of travelling have filled Vadik Suljakov's mind with countless images to paint. His passion for art is clearly visible in his deep colors and textured canvas pieces. His classic and gorgeously Romantic approach to each canvas allows him to create timeless masterpieces that continue to enthrall art enthusiasts around the world. Vadik Suljakov paints soft, flowing compositions filled with texture and depth tied together with attractive color schemes. He strives to keep a balance of simple style and a sophisticated composition. Suljakov has enhanced his vibrant compositions over the years, which has lead to the achievement of his trademark style. His works have been exhibited internationally and can be found in corporate, public, and private collections as well as in museums around the world.
